(WIBW/KVOE/AP) - The maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread could file for bankruptcy protection by the end of the week.
Hostess brands has a facility in Emporia. It employs more than 450 people. The company has 19,000 workers worldwide.
It would be the second major court restructuring in recent years, the company having previously entered bankruptcy court in 2004.
The company carries $860 million in debt. Rising prices for sugar, flour and other ingredients reportedly are among reasons for the cash-flow problems.
