Man Killed Arrowhead Stadium Struggle Reportedly Police Sergeant's Son

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Kansas City-area police sergeant's son has been identified as the man who died following a struggle outside of Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, according to the CBS affiliate in Kansas City.

Kyle Van Winkle, 30, died at an area hospital later that night, KCTV reported. They said the Smithville man's father is the public information officer for the city of Grandview.

Two suspects are in custody in relation to the homicide, which happened in a parking lot sometime during Sunday's game.

Authorities also searched a home in Independence, Missouri, on Monday.

Police were first called to the stadium's parking lot "A" shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday night. They said a man and his son went to their SUV and found a man they didn't know sitting inside.

A fight broke out and the owner's son ran for help. Police said the man who'd been inside and the vehicle collapsed. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.

Police noted the three people taken into custody were released on Monday.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death. Hospital officials said there were no obvious signs.
