Hit Pole Knocks Power Out In North Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--Several hundred Westar Energy customers were without power early Saturday morning.

Dispatch says that they received a call around 2 a.m. that someone had hit a power pole in the 3000 Block of North Kansas Ave.

Police are looking for the car, which also took out several mailboxes in the area. They do not have a description of it nor the person that hit the pole. No injuries have been reported.

About 700 people were originally without power. That number is down to 27 as of 5:50 a.m. according to the Westar Energy website. They are working in the area to restore power.
