HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) -- Jackson Heights High School students will live a part of history, taking off Wednesday, October 24th, for the school's 5th honor flight.

Students and veterans gathered around a table at the school to share stories and experiences. Six World War II veterans and 19 Korean conflict veterans will be joined by 17 Jackson Heights High School student guardians.

The group will make a one-day trip to D.C., stopping to see the WWII, Korean, Vietnam and Lincoln memorials.

Honor flights at Jackson Heights started in 2009, and since then have helped 118 veterans re-live history, and teach younger generations.

There is no charge to vets or students. The flight is made possible through fundraising and donations.
