TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- 1 suspect was arrested Thursday morning after leading police on a high speed chase through the city overnight.
It all started at the intersection of 11th and Gage around 2:30 Thursday morning when Topeka Police officers attempted to pull over a white Toyota for speeding.
Authorities say the driver sped off in the vehicle, averaging 80 miles per hour. The driver, 44-year-old Steven Walker also attempted to strike officers trying to deploy stop sticks.
Walker jumped out of the moving vehicle and attempted to run on foot in the 3300 block of Burlingame and was apprehended by a police
Walker was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and arrested for felony fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault on the passenger, and aggravated assault on officers. The passenger was interviewed and released.
The pursuit ended around 3 Thursday morning.
