TOPEKA Kan. (WIBW)--Heritage Christian Senior Stefanie Lischke not only can hit a curve, she is well ahead of them when it comes to her work in the classroom. Lischke will be Valedictorian and is a Kansas Honor Scholar at the Topeka Christian school and has aspirations of being a Cardio Thoracic Surgeon, all while playing collegiate softball.
Her talents also extend away from the books and onto the softball diamond. Stefanie was named a Wendy’s High School Heisman State Finalist for the state of Kansas this past year and has signed a letter of intent to play softball for Southwest Baptist University in Missouri.
Stefanie understands the importance of academics but also finds time to mix in some fun with softball. “It’s about time management really and making sure everything is planned out so sports don’t conflict with academics and vice versa.”
The future Bearcat credits her parent’s hard work for giving her that extra drive to set high goals and balance both school work and sports. She wants to major in Pre-Med and Biomedical Chemistry, a daunting task for anyone, even without adding practice and games to that schedule.
“You saw it today, her positive attitude and work ethic will allow her to succeed at the next level,” said her KC Jazz summer softball team coach Brian Smith. Heritage Christian has no softball team and that meant Stefanie could only play summer traveling ball.
