TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Members of the Topeka Historic Site for Heritage Tourism Committee met Thursday afternoon to discuss bylaws.
The members met with the Transient Guest Tax Committee to go over grant guidelines that were recently rewritten.
Members tabled grant application procedures, stating those which are awarded grants should have a say in the process, but they did go ahead and approve new guidelines.
The Historic Tourism Committee is working to turn more local spots into tourist attractions. So far, it has distributed grants to Constitution Hall, Richie Hall, Curtis House, Jayhawk Theater, and the Topeka Council of Colored Women's Club Building.
The money is used to restore historic landmarks to promote heritage tourism.
