VILETS, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Kansas Department of Transportation Thursday morning closed a section of highway in Marshall County due to flood waters caused by heavy rain.
K-87 closed at 8:30 a.m. between the city of Vilets and the K-9/K-87 intersection. K-87 is also closed north of K-9 approximately 300 feet due to flood waters.
KDOT spokesperson Kimberly Qualls said in a news release drivers must use alternate routes. No marked detours will be provided. KDOT reminds drivers to not attempt to drive through flooded or high water on roadways.
K-87 is not expected to reopen until later Thursday.
