TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Heart of America Black Expo is going on in Topeka this weekend, and activities kicked off Friday evening.
The grant fest awards reception was held Friday at the Brown v. Board of Education Historic Site.
Outstanding people were honored including the 2013 Kansan of the Year, Beverly Jo Pryor, now a world renowned Hollywood makeup artist.
Saturday's crowd was entertained by great gospel music as part of Heart of America Black Expo's Grant fest.
The three day family event brings together Capital City residents for fun family friendly activities. The Grant fest is named in honor of longtime Topeka philanthropist Grant Cushinbery.
On Sunday, there will be a church service and family picnic at 2:00 p.m. followed by a free outdoors concert at 7:00 p.m.
