Governor Proclaims Armed Forces Appreciation Day

TOPEKA, Kan. - Kansas Governor Sam Brownback planned to hold a proclamation signing Thursday for Armed Forces Appreciation Day at 10 a.m. on the south steps of the Statehouse.

In addition to the proclamation, Gov. Brownback will also hold a ceremonial signing of substitute for House Bill 2178. It requires a state licensing agency to issue a license to a qualified nonresident military spouse so the spouse may lawfully practice a regulated profession in Kansas. The Governor signed the bill into law on Feb. 14, 2012.

While at the Statehouse, the Governor also planned to sign the Employer Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. Joining the Governor is the Governor's Military Council as well as leadership of Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth, Forbes Field and McConnell Air Force Base.
