Topeka – In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down on Saturday, March 31 in honor of Sgt. Jamie D. Jarboe, who died on March 21, 2012 in Topeka from injuries sustained in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
“I would like to offer my deepest condolence to Sergeant Jarboe’s wife Melissa, and to his entire family. His courage and his will during his convalescence made a deep impact on the community of Topeka and the entire state of Kansas. His sacrifice will never be forgotten,” said Governor Brownback.
Jarboe was assigned to A Troop, 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan. According to initial reports, Jarboe died of injuries sustained on April 10, 2011, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, from small arms fire.
