Governor Declares May 'Beef Month' In Kansas

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) -- May 2013 will be known as Beef Month in the state of Kansas.

Governor Sam Brownback planned to sign a proclamation Friday afternoon, in part because Kansas is one of the nation's top states for cattle raising and beef production. There are more than 5.85 million cattle on ranches and in feedyards in Kansas.

The governor planned to sign the proclamation at the Moyer Ranch while in Emporia to also visit Emporia State University as part of his education funding tour.
