KANSAS CITY, MO (WIBW)-- More than a year after Google chose Kansas City over Topeka and a number of other cities for its high-speed fiber network -- people can finally get it!

Google officials were in Kansas City today to unveil some of the details of the plan.

Residents can get an internet television package for $120 a month or pay $70 dollars a month for just internet. There is an additional $300 construction fee, but customers who sign up now may be able to get that waived if they sign a longterm contract.

Google has split the Kansas City Metro area into different "fiberhoods" and each are will have to have a certain number of pre-registrations to have the service installed.

Google also has a plan for "regular speed" internet for free--if the user pays the construction fee.

For that price, Google says customers get internet 100 times faster than current speeds.
