TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- A local holiday event and fundraiser had a sweet turn out over the weekend.
Organizers say they had the biggest turn out in four years at the 17th Annual "Gingerbread Homes for the Holidays" at the Topeka Performing Arts Center.
Linda Nedved said 900 people attended Saturday night and 1,100 people attended Friday night.
Sunday was the last day of the event that started Friday. Children of all ages built their own graham cracker creations, while other gingerbread creations were set up for silent auction.
The winners of the gingerbread homes contest win tickets to Buddy Valastro, the Cake Boss' show.
Tickets were $2-3. Proceeds from the event benefit Topeka Performing Arts Center's Youth Education Programs.
