TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A broken gas line had a portion of South Topeka Boulevard shut down for a short period of time Tuesday night.
Topeka Fire crews were called just after 7 pm Tuesday to a ruptured gas line at S. Topeka Boulevard and 47th Street.
Fire officials say witnesses tell them a semi truck turning around hit the guard rails around an exposed pipe, ripping them out of the ground and breaking an inch-and-a-half supply line. S. Topeka Boulevard was closed only about 15 minutes while authorities assessed the situation, but fire crews stood by until 8:20 pm while Kansas Gas Service made repairs.
No one was injured and no evacuations were necessary.
The truck and driver have not been located.
