TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Hundreds of Topekans reached deep into their pockets to help local children in need.
A silent auction and a good cause brought generous individuals and corporate sponsors together for an an elegant evening hosted by the Topeka Active 20/30 Club on Saturday.
Organizers say the annual gala is their biggest fundraiser of the year and they're hoping to bring in more than $150,000 this time.
"We have a great turnout. We're sold out," 2012 Gala Chairman Matthew Bergmann said. "We have over 600 people at the event. We're hoping to raise a whole lot of money for kids that are in need. And that money will go to make a huge impact in the Topeka community," he said.
Proceeds benefit Topeka-area youth charities.
