Fourth Delay Granted In Trial Of Mom Charged With Leaving Baby In Dumpster

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - A judge granted another delay Friday in the trial of a woman accused of leaving her baby in a dumpster.

Christina Devine is charged in Lyon County with putting her newborn in a sack and leaving it in an apartment complex dumpster in October 2010. The child survived.

This is the fourth delay for the trial, which most recently was set to begin April 2. The judge at Friday's hearing set June 25 as the new date.

Most of the delays have been so the defense could find experts to interpret reports on Devine's diagnosis with neurofibromitosis. NF is a genetic disorder that creates tumors in the nervous system.
