TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Four people will vie for a vacant seat on the Topeka City Council.
The deadline to apply for the District 8 position was 5 pm Monday, June 3.
The fourth candidate submitted his application Monday. He is Nathan Schmidt. Jared Holroyd was the first to apply. Filing their paperwork in between were David Mountain and Charles Dean Wilson.
Previous District 8 representative Andrew Gray resigned in May, citing health concerns for himself and a close family member. He was midway through his first term.
Governing body members - the remaining council members and Mayor Larry Wolgast - will interview candidates and vote on who will fill out the term at their meeting June 11th.
