Fort Riley Soldier Arrested After 12 Hour Fight With Wife

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Fort Riley soldier is facing several charges stemming from a series of altercations with his wife that police say went on for hours at the couple's Manhattan home.

Sgt. Dustin Garrett, 25, was arrested Wednesday, March 21st, 2012 at his home at 1506 Pierre Street in Manhattan and charged with Domestic Battery (misdemeanor), Intimidating a Witness (misdemeanor) and Aggravated Assault (felony).

Riley County Police Department spokesman Lieutenant Josh Kyle says officers were called to the couple's home Wednesday at 2 PM in regards to a domestic battery that started at 2 AM that morning.

Garrett's 23-year-old wife, who police are not identifying, told officers that she had been involved in a series of altercations with her husband during the time frame from 2 AM- 2 PM. She sustained minor injuries, according to officials.

Kyle says Garrett also threatened his spouse with a blunt object during the on and off arguments. He declined to identify the object. No other details on the case are being released.

Garrett's bond was set at $5,000 and arrest reports indicate that he posted bond Wednesday.
