Manhattan, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Former Riley County Police narcotics officer fired for alleged theft and misconduct charges is suing the Department in Federal Court.
Officer Mark Bylkas was fired after his May, 2010 arrest on two felony misconduct charges and one theft charge. Bylkas’ attorney Lyle Gregory of Raymore Missouri told 13 News he has emailed for electronic filing of the suit in US District Court in Kansas City, Kansas.
Gregory says it will claim Bylkas was fired and falsely accused of a crime in retaliation for reporting misconduct of other RCPD officers.
Named as defendants in the Federal suit are RCPD Director Brad Schoen, and RCPD officers Mike Boller, Rich Fink and John Doehling.
Riley County passed the Bylkas case to former Attorney General Steve Six last year and it was taken over by Current Attorney General Derek Schmidt.
Thursday, Schmidt’s office told 13 News the Bylkas case is still under review.
