Betty Dunn says supporters convinced her to launch a write-in campaign for Topeka Mayor.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A familiar face in Topeka politics wants another shot at serving the city.

Betty Dunn is launching a write-in campaign for mayor. She says she considered a formal campaign, but, after her husband passed away a year ago, she spent time with her children out of town. When she returned, she says the filing deadline has passed, but supporters asked if they'd be open to them writing her name on their ballots.

Dunn served eight years on the Topeka City Council. She says she enjoyed serving the community and wants to continue doing so.

Dunn described the mayor as an ambassador and a person who promotes the city. She says she'd like to see more growth for the younger people, so they are motivated to remain in Topeka.

Dunn will be making her case against the two candidates appearing on the April 2 ballot - current councilman Larry Wolgast and Michael Ogle.
