TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A former Kansas high school girls basketball star has been sentenced to 48 months in prison, but won't go to jail if she obeys probation.

In May, Lasharra Riley pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and attempted aggravated robbery.

She was sentenced to 4 years in prison, but Judge Evelyn Wilson suspended the sentence, giving Riley 36 months probation instead of time behind bars. If Riley violates her probation, she will go to jail.

Riley was also ordered to pay roughly $4,000 restitution and to register as a violent offender.

She was arrested last year for doing great bodily harm, armed with a handgun while trying to steal drugs in Topeka.

Riley led Washburn Rural to the 2009 State Basketball Championship. She attended Oklahoma State on a scholarship, then transferred to UMKC in 2010 before she dropped out.
