Food Drive Falls Just Shy Of Goal
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The same tough economy that is driving the need for the Project Topeka food drive, is also partly to blame for the group coming up just short of their goal, according to Dan Woodard.
Woodard, the president of Project Topeka Food Drive, says the group just missed its goal of 192 tons of food. He says they are happy with the 182.8 tons they did bring in, though. Topeka-area agencies continue to tell Woodard the need rises every year because of the work climate and other economic hurdles.
Leading the charge again this year were employees from the state of Kansas. Woodard says Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad, Capitol Federal, and Westar were at the top of the list for private companies this year.
