Following Deadly Shooting, What Should You Do If Confronted By Robber

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Many may be asking what to do, if confronted by an armed robber, following Thursday's fatal shooting of 40-year-old Natalie Gibson.

Gibson was shot and killed in her Topeka driveway in the city's Kenwood neighborhood at 307 S.W. Quinton, overnight Thursday. 41-year-old Lori Allison was also shot; she is recovering.

Police say you should have a plan and know it, incase you are confronted. It is not known if the women complied with the robber's demands, but police say that is what you should do.

TPD Sargeant Ron Gish says, "don't confront the robber. Don't say anything that is going to escalate the sitation. Don't swear, don't yell at them. Just do what they say and comply with their demands and get them away from you as soon as possible."

Gish also says keep your property lit, trim trees so you can see around you, and have neighbors looking out for you.

No suspect has been apprehended following Thursday's shooting.
