First Tee Brings Youth Together

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Young golfers didn't let the heat stop them from hitting the links.

Young people from area First Tee chapters rounded out two days of activities in Topeka with lunch Friday. It was a cooldown from nine holes of golf played in the morning.

First Tee Shawnee County and Community Action hosted more than 30 First Tee youngsters from around the state. Organizer Elmer Robinson says the program is about more than golf. He says it's a way for students to learn about diversity and life skills.

The group toured the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site Thursday.

First Tee has groups in four Kansas communities.
