First Friday Art Walk Offers New Features For Art Lovers

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__August's First Friday Art Walk provides Topekans with plenty to enjoy.

This months event will also feature some added bonuses to patrons. Two weeks ago, Topeka City Council Members passed and issue that allows complimentary wine to be served at non-profit events put on by ARTSConnect.

The First Friday event also has partenered with Topeka Metro to provide a bus shuttle for the evening. The bus shuttles will run from 5:30pm-8:30pm beginning at the Quincy Station, making stops at 8th and Jackson and head towards Westboro, stopping at Grace Cathedral's Cloister Gallery, Swinnen & Associates, and the Topeka & Shawnee County Library. After Westboro the bus will travel to NOTO, with a stop at Warehouse 414 on the return trip back to Quincy Station to start over again.

The Topeka Metro at 820 SE Quincy will be transformed int an art gallery displaying art work from Topeka area high school students which will be placed upon benches near the schools. They will also be celebrating their 40 years of service with a birthday cake.
