TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Topeka firefighters have responded to a house fire in the east part of the city late Monday afternoon. Authorities said flames were showing from the home when they arrived shortly after 6:00 p.m.
Initial reports indicated someone may be in the house, 709 SE Branner Street. Neighbors said they have seen one person living there, but firefighters did not find anyone.
Martin Gray with the Topeka Fire Dept. said all utilities were shut off when crews entered the home.
They are still trying to determine how the fire started.
