WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) - Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire at an east Wichita elementary school.
Just after 2 p.m., fire crews were dispatched to College Hill Elementary, located at 211 N. Clifton. When they arrived, heavy smoke was visible from the outside.
The building was evacuated and the fire has since been extinguished, but crews are still trying to clear the smoke from the building before they can investigate the cause.
KAKE News has a crew on scene. A teacher told KAKE's Parrish Alleman that open house at the school was scheduled for tonight, and that all of the classrooms had been set up with new school supplies. That has now been postponed. School is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, but it's unclear if there will be a delay.
