TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire on S.W. 18th Street early Wednesday morning.
Fire Crews were called to 4812 S.W. 18th Street at 1:51 a.m. Wednesday.
When they arrived, they noticed fire and smoke coming from the roof, as well as the home's occupants and pets already outside.
The owner of the home told 13 News that he and his wife woke to what sounded like "clanging sounds from the pipes."
Officials say the fire started in the attic. The fire was put out quickly, but crews had to get inside the attic to put out hot spots.
