Fence Regulations Discussed In Shawnee County

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Building updated regulations for fences in Shawnee County was the focus of discussion Wednesday.

The Shawnee County Planning Department held a meeting for people to get information and ask questions.

Director Barry Beagle says current fence regulations are outdated and have created inconsistencies with homes in the county.

Fences, typically, you don't think about until you want to erect them and you have to deal with a neighbor. So what we are trying to do is standardize that so everyone knows up front how much height you're allowed so that way hopefully in the end everyone is in agreement.

Beagle says the planning commission will consider the changes in September.
