TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Washburn University President Jerry Farley is celebrating a major milestone.
It was 15 years ago - on July 1, 1997 - that Farley was inaugurated as Washburn's 16th president.
Since then nine buildings have been constructed or renovated, one moved to campus, and Yager Stadium at Moore bowl has been spruced up.
Farley says he still feels like the job is brand new.
"It's hard to believe that it's been that long. It does not seem like it," Farley said. "I still come to work every day and love it and have fun. It seems like just yesterday when I walked in this office for the first time. It literally does. So 15 years have gone fast."
Farley says the biggest things to look forward to in the coming years include online classes and a new model for the tech campus, which is something he hopes other schools will follow.
