TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Funeral services are set for a veteran Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper who died following an accident at his home.
54-year old Master Trooper Jeff Heryford died Friday. In his 32 years with KPH, he served on the honor guard, governor's detail and Turnpike patrol.
He also served a dozen years with the Shawnee Heights Fire District. On their Facebook page, the department said Heryford fell from the loft of a storage building at his home near Berryton Thursday night and died the next day from his injuries.
He's survived by his wife, Lezlee, and children, Lea and Samuel.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel's southwest chapel on SW 37th and Wanamaker. His funeral is 10 am Wednesday at Countryside United Methodist Church.
