TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Everyday people deemed heroes were honored Monday night.
The red cross hosted the Tribute to Heroes dinner at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center.
Over the past two weeks on WIBW-TV, we profiled nine people who were nominated as heroes across the community.
On Monday, event organizers wanted to recognize them for their acts, stating not all heroes wear capes.
"Many of our heroes, when we contacted them to say, 'you were nominated and you've been selected as a hero for northeast Kansas', they said, 'I didn't do anything heroic'. But they really do, if they think about it from the other person's perspective, the person who was impacted by their actions, that's heroic," said Jenalea Randall, Chair of Tribute to Heroes Event.
13's Jeremy Goodwin emceed Monday's event.
