EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - An Emporia State University international student is in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening.
Police say 23-year-old Yali Huang was crossing in the cross walk in the 1500 block of Merchant Street just before 8 pm when she was hit by a vehicle traveling north. The vehicle, a 2002 Jeep Liberty, was driven by 72-year-old Patricia Sutton of Americus.
Huang was taken to Newman's Regional Hospital in Emporia, then later transported by Life Flight to a Wichita hospital where she remains in serious condition.
ESU officials say Yali Huang is a student from Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. She is attending Emporia State for the 2012-13 academic year as an exchange student from South China Business College.
