TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Consider yourself warned.
With many more drivers traveling this Thanksgiving, the Topeka Police Dept. (TPD) said they plan on increasing patrols over the holiday in order to keep the roads safe.
And, they're not the only ones. TPD says the Kansas Highway Patrol and several other agencies will be stepping up efforts as well.
A grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation will help pay for the all of the overtime.
TPD noted Thanksgiving weekend normally outranks all of the other holidays in Kansas in terms of crashes blamed on drivers being impaired.
They urge all drivers to act responsibly and obey traffic laws to keep themselves and their fellow drivers safe.
