DOUGLASS, Kan. (WIBW) - A Douglass, Kansas school bus driver has been suspended following an accident that led to a water rescue last week. Douglass school superintendent Rob Reynolds made the announcement in a news release today.
The statement said the bus driver, previously identified as Morris Peterson, 64, has been suspended pending the results of a Kansas Highway Patrol investigation.
The bus was crossing a low water area when it left the road and landed on its side. Ten children used an escape hatch and waited on top of the bus until they could be rescued.
Reynolds said school counselors are available to talk with the students.
