(WIBW) - One Kansas county will have its elections monitored Tuesday by the U.S. Justice Department.
The Civil Rights Division will monitor Seward County to make sure it is complying with the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The act ensures that no one is discriminated against during the election process.
Seward County is required to provide language assistance for Hispanic voters.
Cook County, Illinois also will be monitored Tuesday. Cook County is required to provide language assistance to its Hispanic, Chinese and Asian Indian voters.
Voters who wish to file complaints about discriminatory voting practices, including acts of harassment or intimidation, may call the Voting Section of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division at 1-800-253-3931.
