TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Supporters and delegates of the Kansas Democratic Party came together for the 2nd Congressional District Reorganization meeting on Saturday.
County delegates elected new officers for the second district, and also state committee delegates and alternates. They will be able to vote on measures the party will adopt.
Those chosen get to attend the state committee meeting during Washington Days, a Democratic convention on February 22 and 23.
Any democrat who wanted to atend could.
Margie Wakefield was elected Chairperson of the second district. "What we are attempting to do is make sure that we are going to have Democratic elected officials," she said. "So we will run a candidate for Congress against Lynn Jenkins and we are hoping to have a very successful campaign."
