(WIBW) - The Department of Defense confirmed Monday that a Kansas soldier was killed in Afghanistan.
28-year old Sgt. Michael Knapp of Overland Park was shot and killed Friday when enemy forces attacked his unit. A second soldier, Sgt. Jabraun Knox from Indiana, also died in the attack.
The soldiers were assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
Knapp was two days from taking a two-week leave to see his wife and nine-month old daughter.
