Decision Next Week On Attorney Question

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - It will be next week before a Shawnee County judge decides whether two men accused in an assault will keep their attorney.

A hearing continued Friday on prosecutors' claims that it's a conflict of interest for Billy Rork to represent both Monroe Lockhart and Anthony Talbert. Prosecutors say they hope to have Talbert testify against Lockhart.

The men are charged with forcing their way into a home in November, beating a woman and threatening to kill a man who was there as well. A third person, Jacob Barnett, is also charged in the case.

Judge Mark Braun questioned Talbert privately Thursday and did the same with Lockhart Friday. He says he'll issue a ruling early to middle of next week.
