LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Topeka man died following an early morning wreck north of Lawrence on Wednesday, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. Forty-four year-old Thomas J. Alber was pronounced dead at the scene, KHP reports said.
Alber was reportedly heading east on Farmers Turnpike shortly before 7:00 a.m. when his Toyota drifted into oncoming lanes and struck GMC Acadia that was entering the left turn lane. Alber's vehicle bounded off the SUV and ended up in the ditch, south of the highway.
The GMC came to a rest in the north ditch. Its driver, Traci Eddy, 44, of Lecompton wasn't hurt in the wreck, but did go to the hospital to get checked out.
