EMPORIA, Kan. (KVOE/WIBW) - Hostess Brands is giving striking workers until 4 pm Thursday to return to work or the company will liquidate.
Members of the Bakers and Confectioners union took to the picket lines over the weekend at production facilities nationwide, including the Emporia plant.
KVOE Radio reports Hostess said Wednesday that if enough workers do not return to their jobs Thursday, it will move forward with plans to shut down. KVOE reports the company plans to file a motion in U.S. Bankruptcy Court Friday, requesting to sell all assets. If granted, closures could begin as soon as Tuesday.
Union members are upset over wage cuts and a stop in pension payments.
