FORT RILEY, Kan. - A former American Idol contestant who now has four No. 1 Top-40 hits will perform June 10 at Fort Riley.
Chris Daughtry and his band, Daughtry, will perform at 7 p.m. outside Riley's Conference Center.
Perhaps best known as a contestant from the fifth season of American Idol, Daughtry's No. 1 Top-40 hits include "It's Not Over," "Home," "Feels Like Tonight" and "No Surprise."
Now introducing the band's third album, "Break the Spell," Daughtry is touring the nation and stopping at several military installations along the way to play shows for Soldiers and Families.
The concert is open to Department of Defense cardholders and their guests, according to Brad Carlton, recreation program manager, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
Admission is free to the Air Force Reserve's Tour for the Troops. Gates will open at 5 p.m., and the opening band will start at 6 p.m. before Daughtry takes the stage.
About 5,000 people are expected to attend the concert, Carlton said.
The Daughtry concert and a carnival will kick off the 1st Infantry Division's Victory Week.
