Dad Returning From Afghanistan Surprises Girls At Manhattan Mall

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Three girls found out about the power of a wishing fountain at the Manhattan Town Center Sunday.

For nine long months, Carmen Kurtz had been taking her three daughters to the fountain every week, encouraging the girls - 5-year-old Jullian, 3-year-old Kaleigh and 1-year-old Leah to express their hopes and wishes. Every week, the girls have been filling the fountain at the with their pennies and their one wish, "for daddy to come home again."

This Sunday they found out dreams and hopes can prove pretty powerful. One by one, they repeated their wish and just after Leah had thrown in her last coin, Specialist Lucas Kurtz with the HHC - 128th Infantry appeared among the mall-goers.

Kurtz had just returned from Afghanistan to reunite with all of his girls in a big embrace, making the family complete once again.

Mom Carmen Kurtz sent the video of the heartfelt reunion on camera and shared it with 13 News. She says her girls haven't stopped smiling since her husband came back.
