TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee Co. District Attorney's Office is reviewing what charges might be filed in the murder of an eight-year old girl.
Ahliyah Irvin's body was found Tuesday morning in an apartment complex in southeast Topeka. Family members say she was sleeping when a man came into the apartment she was in and took her. Authorities found her in another apartment in the complex about an hour later.
Police haven't said how she was killed. Capt. Jerry Stanley said Thursday that investigators have forwarded their reports to the DA's office for review of possible charges against 28-year old Billy Davis.
Davis is being held on $10 million bond on charges of felony murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and rape. Officers found him hiding in a brushy creek bed in the 4400 block of SE Truman a few hours after Ahliyah's body was found.
Funeral services for Ahliyah are at 2 pm Friday at Penwell-Gabel's North Topeka location, 245 NW Independence. A memorial fund to assist the family is set up at CoreFirst Bank.
