DA Taylor Won't Seek Ouster For County Treasurer

DA Letter to Commissioners

AG Report on Wilson Investigation

DA Report on Wilson Investigation

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Investigators say Shawnee County Treasurer Larry Wilson did not willfully neglect his duties.

The investigation into his alleged misconduct is closed. District Attorney Chad Taylor spoke out on the legal findings on Monday (4/30), saying he decided not to seek an ouster for Wilson.

The Board of Shawnee County Commissioners requested a full investigation of complaints against Wilson last September.

Six complaints were alleged, including that Wilson misused money from the motor vehicle fund, failed to submit financial reports on time, and failed to develop written emergency exit procedures for Treasurer's office customers.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Todd Hiatt, and a criminal investigator from the Kansas Attorney General's Office investigated the claims. They say Wilson may not have complied with the strict construction of state law under two of the circumstances, but that the remaining complaints were simply without merit.
