TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County will start rolling out the recycling bins in the coming weeks.
Public Works director Tom Vlach told commissioners at their meeting Monday that distribution of more than 42,000 carts for curbside recycling will begin November 12th. All Shawnee County refuse customers should have them by December 21st.
Curbside pickup should start in mid- to late- January. Vlach says recyclables will be collected every-other-week, on the same day as trash pickup.
Residential refuse rates will go up $4 a month starting January 1st, regardless of whether a customer participates in the curbside recycling program.
