Crime Victims Receive Help From Crime Victims Compensation Board

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Nearly 100 crime victims received help from the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt's office announced Wednesday that more than 243-thousand dollars was awarded to 60 new cases and 37 previously submitted cases.

The money helps victims of violent crimes pay for unexpected expenses such as medical treatment, mental health counseling and lost wages.

Money for the fund comes from a portion of assessed court costs and fines, parole fees, inmate wages and restitution...
