TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Investigator say a house fire in North Topeka was incendiary in nature.'
Firefighters responded to 1928 NE Monroe around 9:40 am Wednesday.
Heavy smoke could be seen as crews arrived at the residence. Fire officials say a Topeka Police officer who was first on the scene entered the home and located the resident, who eventually got out on her own.
She was taken to a local hospital to be checked out for what were considered minor injuries.
Investigators say the fire started in the approximate center of a bedroom in the northwest corner of the home.
Westar Energy responded to the incident, and disconnected power lines from the home.
Fire officials say the fire did $55,000 damage.
