The Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) has announced that Kansas artists can now access Mid-American Arts Alliance (M-AAA) programs. These programs support professional development and touring arts organizations.
Applications are accepted for KCAIC programs and can be downloaded at www.KansasCommerce.com/CAICPrograms.
The Creative Economy Project Support program encourages partnerships among cultural, business and public sectors to help communities address cultural and economic development goals through a variety of creative initiatives. This program leverages the creative assets in Kansas communities to stimulate the local economy, strengthen the role of arts and culture, promote regional identity and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
Funds may be used to support a single activity or related activities that are not already supported through a current KCAIC program.
Successful applications should demonstrate commitment to inter-sector collaboration, community engagement in economic and community development using other funding sources
Create an active network of cultural nonprofits and involved citizens, planning and oversight by non-profit arts organizations and implementation with community partners. Designated community member serve as coordinator to communicate with the public and partners.
Applicants must also demonstrate excellent artistic, educational and cultural value; responsiveness to their community; credible planning and evaluation strategies; long term economic impact; and rigorous financial and managerial accountability.
The Strategic Investment Program recognizes the important role individual artists and creative organizations play in building and sustaining cultural and economic vibrancy in Kansas. By funding a variety of professional and organizational development opportunities that impact cultural programming, these grants support initiatives that use the arts to enhance community vitality, revitalize neighborhoods, generate local business, create and preserve job opportunities and impact tourism.
Applicants must make a compelling case as to why this particular self-identified activity or opportunity was selected, how it will have a substantial impact on their work and community and how it will enhance the national reputation of Kansas.
Strategic Investment Program funds can be used for organizational development, grants for professional development opportunities for organizations that help strengthen business practices and sustainability, hiring consultants to build administrative and business skills, develop or upgrade marketing and promotional materials such as brochures, DVDs, CDs, print ads and websites that fulfill strategies to expand audiences, outreach to underserved areas and promote regional identity.
Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) supports and stimulates cultural activity in communities throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. Based in the heartland, M-AAA creates and manages regional, multi-regional, national, and international programs including traveling exhibitions, performing arts touring, and professional and community development.
